Nigeria: MAPOLY granted approval to Award B.Tech Degree
London, April 2, 2021 (AltAfrica)-Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Mapoly, formerly Ogun State Polytechnic has been officially granted approval to award Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech degree by the Ogun state government
The approval, alternativeafrica.com understands is geared towards improving the educational provision in the state to meet the demand for technological and vocational manpower needed for development and inline with the vission of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu conveyed the approval in a letter signed by the State Director, Primary and Higher Education, Dr. Olanloye Waheed, dated March 23, 2021.
The letter addressed to the Acting Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji stated that, “His Excellency, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun MFR has graciously granted approval to commence the process of affiliation with Olabisi Onabanjo University for the purpose of running B.Tech programmes”.
It further explained that, the approval will be in tandem with the requirements approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The B.Tech approval to MAPOLY is also a confirmation of His Excellency’s keen interest in education to align it with the demands of modern trends which places premium on technological and vocational skill acquisition.
It would be recalled that Governor Abiodun, on assumption of office, revived MAPOLY with the pronouncement to return the Institution to status quo ante.
Reacting to this development, a delighted Mapoly Acting Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji said the programme would retain and sustain the hand-on policy of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) policy of the government
The acting rector explained that the B.Tech will be, mainly, for National Diploma graduates of programmes accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in the Polytechnic. “The reason is that we want to give maximum benefits to all our products and their counterparts from other institution within the context of the programmes accredited in the Polytechnic”, he added.
Yemi Ajibola, Head, Public Relations & Protocol of Mapoly quotes Dr Odedeji as saying “as soon as all arrangements have been concluded with OOU and NUC, there is assurance that the programme will begin before the end of this year.”
On behalf of the Management, Staff and Students of the Polytechnic, Dr. Odedeji expresses heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for this giant offer to MAPOLY.
He promised that the Institution will continue to key into the mission of “Building our Future Together” agenda of the Ogun State Government.
