6 African airports bag covid-19 friendly award
London, Feb. 15, 2021 (AltAfrica)-In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, some airports are adapting faster than others. Thanks to the “Voice of the Customer” award unveiled last week
Airports Council International (ACI) World, which brings together more than 1,900 airports around the world, has rewarded platforms that pay particular attention to travellers’ concern and opinions .
140 airports in total were distinguished. Among these were six African international airports namely: Dakar Blaise Diagne (Senegal), Jomo Kenyatta-Nairobi (Kenya), Kotoka-Accra (Ghana), Moi-Mombasa (Kenya), Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam de Port-Louis (Mauritius ), and Tunis-Carthage (Tunisia).
The Covid-19 has had the effect of changing the habits of air passengers. These now require more health guarantees throughout the travel process. Both on departure and arrival, airports are readjusting for a better customer experience.
“ The ″ Voice of the Customer ″ distinction celebrates the commitment of airports that have continued to listen to passengers, and to adapt processes and procedures to meet the changing expectations of the customer experience in response to Covid-19, ” said commented Luis Felipe de Oliveira, CEO of ACI World.
To be eligible for this Amadeus-sponsored award, an airport must have collected at least three quarters of traveler reviews and comments. ”
Despite the operational difficulties encountered by all airports, we believe that those who place the passenger at the centre of their operations are well placed to create safer, more satisfying and more fluid experiences for travellers “, thinks Bruno Spada, vice -executive chairman in charge of international airports at Amadeus.
The new ACI award is distinct from its famous “ASQ Award”. The ASQ (Airport Service Quality) program is the world’s leading program to measure and benchmark customer experience at airports. It measures passenger satisfaction through 34 key performance indicators. More than half of the world’s travellers pass through an airport registered with the ASQ program.
