Republican congresswoman files Articles of impeachment against Joe Biden
London, Jan. 22, 2021 (AltAfrica)-A Republican congresswoman has filed articles of impeachment against new US President Joe Biden.
Posting a video on social media, Marjorie Taylor Greene told her followers: ‘I’ve just filed articles of impeachment on president Joe Biden. We’ll see how this goes.’
She said Biden should be impeached for an alleged abuse of power while he was serving as Vice President.
In a statement, she alleged that Biden has participated in ‘corrupt actions’ involving exchanges with Ukraine and had allowed his son Hunter to ‘siphon off cash from America’s greatest enemies, Russia and China’.
She went on: ‘President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency. His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama’s Vice President is lengthy and disturbing.
‘President Biden has demonstrated he will do whatever it takes to bail out his son, Hunter, and line his family’s pockets with cash from corrupt foreign energy companies.’
Greene is a long-term supporter of outgoing president Donald Trump, and like him, has repeatedly claimed that Biden won the US election as a result of voter fraud. S
he has also expressed support for disproved far-right QAnon conspiracy theories.
Already this month she was blocked from Twitter after violating their rules of use by tweeting about voter fraud during the Capital attack on January 6. The social media platform said her tweets contained ‘disputed’ claims and posed ‘a risk of violence’.
Biden became the 46th US President on Wednesday. Since then, he has made face masks compulsory across US government properties, rejoined the 2015 Paris Accord, and undone Trump’s so-called Muslim ban.
He has previously denied making policy decisions toward Ukraine while taking his son’s business interests into consideration. Senate Republicans also found no evidence of wrongdoing when investigating the allegations last year. Trump is currently awaiting his own impeachment trial over the Capitol riots. He has been charged with ‘incitement of insurrection’ after he refused to condemn his supporters for their actions.
