Egypt disinfects whole village where Mo Salah allegedly contract covid-19
London, Nov. 16, 2020 (AltAfrica)-A team of health experts in Egypt has sterilised and disinfected Gharbiya, the hometown of Egypt and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah after the player tested positive for Coronavirus, days after attending a crowded family wedding
The committee conducted swabs for all residents of the village and family members who were believed to have been in contact with Salah during the wedding he attended on Friday upon his arrival from London, prior to the Egyptian national team camp ahead of Togo’s game.
As many as 60 individuals who were believed to have come into contact with the footballer were traced by the medical committee
They also received the necessary medications as per Egyptian medical protocol related to Coronavirus patients and contacts, according to the health ministry’s undersecretary at Gharbiya.
The 28-year old Egyptian super star’s infection was detected earlier on Friday as part of the routine Coronavirus PCR tests conducted before games. Hours later, the infection was confirmed after his second test for the flu-like virus came back positive
Salah was seen in pictures and video footage dancing in the wedding ceremony, and surrounded by the audience, a matter that sparked criticism on social media over what they described as “poor” adherence to preventative measures.
He also attended a ceremony on Wednesday to receive the Inspirer award by the EFA.
The Liverpool striker has since been in self-isolation
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah may be not available for the national team matches to make Egyptian fans happy with his performance on the pitch, but he still managed to find a way to cheer his fans.
While self-isolating in the hotel, Salah posed with a young couple, who did not know that their special day will be more special after being in one photo with the Egyptian star.
The photo went viral on social media and the Egyptian fans were happy to see their favourite star happy and smiling. Egyptian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the national team’s winger Mohamed Salah is in a good health condition.
