Premier league star, Mamadou Sakho falls victim to £500,000 burglary in London house
London, Jan. 18, 2020 (AltAfrica)– A Premier League defender has has up to £500,000 of valuables grabbed from his mansion in a raid around the corner from where ‘burglary tourists’ hit Masterchef star Marcus Wareing’s £7million London mansion.
Crystal Palace star Mamadou Sakho, 29, was away with his wife Majda and their three children when the home in Wimbledon was hit by a gang of thieves.
The shocked French international, who moved to the south London club from Liverpool 2017 and now earns £100,000 a week, told the Evening Standard last night: ‘Everything is OK. Me and my wife, we’re OK’
PREMIER LEAGUE RAID
The raid is stoking fears that another prowler could again be stalking the affluent leafy suburb.
French defender Sakho rents the property off ex-Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka, 40, and his wife Barbara Tausia.
Anelka, who won the Euros with France, chased off the Wimbledon Prowler Asdrit Kapaj through his back garden after an attempted break-in six years ago.
The prolific burglar – linked to a string of high-value raids on celebrities include Boris Becker- was jailed for 14 years after swiping more than £550,000 worth of jewellery and valuables in break-ins spanning 11 years.
Cops now think that a copycat gang could be casing the area in an effort to target wealthy residents – after TV chef Marcus Wareing’s £5million Wimbledon house was ransacked by a crew that flew in from Chile.
Speaking last night, Sakho told the Evening Standard: “Everything is OK. Me and my wife, we’re OK.”
However, he declined to comment further on the raid.
Ms Tausia, 42, said she could not comment on the break-in but knew that the family were fine.
Speaking from abroad, the Belgian choreographer added: “The house is rented so I do not know what happened to them. Yes, I knew about it, but I have no details. Everything is OK.”
TWO-MAN BREAK IN
Scotland Yard believe that two men broke into the plush home at around 1.30pm on December 27, with around £500k in goods stolen.
Detectives have released a CCTV image of woman who they believe may have important information.
The grainy grab shows the white woman wearing a black jacket with a light scarf, while she talks on the phone.

PC Dean Shaw, the officer in the case, said: “It is believed that two male suspects carried out this burglary but we would like to speak to the woman pictured as she was seen near the address on the day of the incident and may be able to assist us.”
A neighbour said they were stunned the raiders managed to get in and out of the house without triggering security.
They added: “A lot of people were away for Christmas but that house has rigorous security. There have been a spate of burglaries on this road.”
ARSENAL ACES ATTACKED
The Sakho raid comes after Arsenal aces Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were targeted by moped robbers as they drove through North London.
The pair were in Ozil’s £100,000 Mercedes G Wagon car when two men attacked them.
CCTV footage showed Bosnian international Kolasinac, who was born in Germany, leap from the vehicle and bravely chase off their knife-wielding attackers.
Ashley Smith, 30, and Jordan Northover, 26, both pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery at Harrow Crown Court in Novemeber.
But while they were left empty-handed, Wimbledon Prowler Kapaj was estimated to have stolen millions of pounds worth of goods – with prosecutors fearing he may have pocketed from as many as 200 homes since 2008.
On one occasion, he was reportedly chased across a garden by Anelka.
Kapaj, who came to the UK after unrest in his native Kosovo, former Yugoslavia, nabbed a haul that included a diamond ring and a gold necklace, as well as a dress and thousands of pounds in cash.
Judge Peter Lodder QC described the way Kapaj went about his crimes as “militaristic”, and said that his operation was “highly sophisticated and meticulously pre-planned”, adding: “You terrified the whole community.
