Ghana announces special help-to-buy scheme to help teachers own houses
London, Dec. 3, 2019 (AltAfrica)-President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced a special help-to-buy scheme to help teachers in the West African country buy their own homes and guarantee their security on retirement.
The President made the disclosure at the 70th anniversary of Prempeh College in the Ashanti Region.
The president who gave no further information on the scheme said the help to buy scheme was part of measures to improve the security and quality of living of teachers.
“We are insisting on trying to formulate a policy that will enable teachers to buy their own homes and guarantee their security in their retirement.”
President Akufo-Addo, however, noted that stringent regimes are being undertaken to ensure that the improved conditions come with high standards of education in the country.
The president insisted that “government is committed to ensuring quality and relevant education that will produce confident skilled global citizens fully versed in minute digital technology and ready and able to compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world.”
Nana Akufo-Addo hailed the teacher licensing exams and the introduction of the new standard based curriculum as sure policies his government is pursuing
