Namibia 2019 election: Citizens in six African countries to vote in Ghana

London, Nov. 12, 2019 (AltAfrica)-Namibians residing in five other African countries are to move to Ghana where they are expected to vote in the presidential and national assembly elections this week

A notice from the High Commission of the Republic of Namibia in Ghana named the affected countries as Ghana, Benin, Sierra Leone, Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso . The are expected to vote on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

According to a press release signed by the High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia to Ghana, H.E Charles B Josob, citizens residing in the said countries are expected to be in Ghana to partake in the exercise.

Press Release on Namibian Presidential and National Assembly for its citizens across Africa

The press release further indicated that the elections will take place at the premises of the High Commission of the Republic of Namibia in Ghana from 7 am to 9 pm.

Voters are expected to come along with a valid voter’s cards.

“This media release serves as a notification to all duly registered Namibian citizens in possession of a valid voter’s card residing in Ghana, Benin, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Liberia that the 2019 Namibian Presidential and National Assembly Elections will be held on 13th November 2019 for Namibian living abroad at the premises of the High Commission in Ghana.,” the statement added.

The Namibian High Commission in Ghana in June 2019 organized a registration exercise for its citizens in Ghana ahead of the elections.

The exercise was done to provide an opportunity to register Namibian citizens who had never registered before and those who had attained 18 years as well as those who lost their voter ID cards or whose cards were damaged.
