She memorably surged through the homestretch to give her country the first women 800m global title and their only medal so far at Doha 2019 in a national record of 1:58.04 on Monday, September 30.

The golden girl, Halimah Nakaayi broke the Ugandan national record to win 800m gold ahead of Raevyn Rogers in an electric final.
Halimah Nakaayi is a Ugandan middle-distance runner. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in the women’s 800 metres.
She was the flag bearer for Uganda in the closing ceremony. Her biggest success is a gold medal in the 800m at the 2019 World Athletics Championships
