Eritrean shot in racist attack in Germany
London, July 23, 2019 (AltAfrica)-A 26-year-old Eritrean was shot and seriously injured in a racist attack in the central German town of Waechtersbach, officials said on Tuesday.
The suspected shooter, a 56-year-old German citizen, shot at the Eritrean man from his car before killing himself, a spokesman for the Frankfurt Prosecutor’s Office told local media.
Alexander Badle, a spokesman for prosecutors in Frankfurt, said Tuesday the 26-year-old Eritrean was shot in the stomach Monday lunchtime in nearby Waechsterbach. He was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery and his life is not in danger
Badle said Tuesday the victim appeared to have been chosen at random because of his skin colour. Authorities have no evidence yet that the suspect had ties to far-right groups
Police found several arms, including two semiautomatic weapons, during searches of the car and apartment of the suspected shooter, whose name has not been released.
