Joshua won the unified world heavyweight champion, having held the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organization titles between 2016 and 2019.

He, however, lost all titles to Mexican, Andy Ruiz in June in a victory that shocked the boxing world,

Joshua activated the rematch clause just days after his loss and an announcement is expected soon about a date and venue. The second fight will either be in New York at Madison Square Garden again or Joshua will insist the rematch take place in the UK.
