Israel offers to assist Nigeria confront security challenges

London, May 24, 2019 (AltAfrica)-The Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria, H.E Mr Shimon Ben-Shoshan has hinted that Israeli government is ready to discuss with Nigeria on the solutions to myriad of security problems confronting the country
Mr. Ben-Shoshan made this know during an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Nigeria at the Music and Festive Concert hosted by the embassy to commemorate Israel’s 71st anniversary
Alternativeafrica.com reports that the live festive concert was a performance by the world-renowned Idan Raichel Project which treated the audience to music lyrics of Israelis rich cultural heritage.
Mr. Ben-Shoshan said “The issue of security is not something I can freely discuss because it involves leaders and professional people who are in charge in both countries. But what I know is that we are ready to help in any aspect of this security issue and we will continue to discuss to make it happens in the nearest future,”
However, the Israeli Ambassador disclosed that he was a happy man seeing the turnout of dignitaries to the 71st anniversary music concert. “I am so happy because this hall was packed full of brothers and sisters who were here to celebrate with us.
You can see the power of music and culture, which are being used to bring people together by both Israel and Nigeria. Israel and Nigeria have a very similar diversity and music is being used to bring people together.
“These are people who love Israel and are friends of Israel. This shows that a lot of people love Israel. Nigeria loves Israel and Israel loves Nigeria,” Ben-Shoshan said.
He praised the Israeli community in Nigeria for making the anniversary a success. “These CEOs have been working here in Nigeria for decade and they have been of good help to the people in their various communities. They did a wonderful job to mobilise a lot of people to this occasion. They made me feel as if I have been here for long,” he said.
On the relationship between his country and Nigeria, Ambassador Ben-Shoshan said things have been cordial and robust, adding that his job is to take it to higher level.
“The trade has been so good and my purpose is to take it to higher level. We will continue to do this like we did at this evening show to bring people together and for us to do marvelous things for both countries,” he said.
Among Nigerian dignitaries who graced the evening of music concert were the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr.Chris Ngige, Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Seriake Henry Dickson, Director General of NIMASA, Mr. Dakuku Adolphus Peterside among others.
