Ogun Guber Election: APM Candidate, Akinlade Goes to Election Tribunal
London, March 18, 2019 (AltAfrica)-The Ogun State gubernatorial candidate of Allied Peoples Movement, APM in the last governorship election , Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade is heading for the election tribunal to challenge the results that produced the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun
Akinlade who disclosed this in a statement by his media aide, Alao Azeez Adelani said, challenging the state March 9th gubernatorial results at the tribunal is a courageous and honourable thing to do.
According to the statement, decision to challenge the election results was taken at a strategic meeting of the party held on 16th of March, 2019, where Hon Akinlade affirmed his resolve to face tribunal, with a claim that compelling evidence available to him and his team clearly shows that APM won the election but was rigged out.
He said, “they stole our mandate at the guber primaries on 2nd of Oct. 2018. They brought in armed uniformed men on the night of March 9th 2019, to manipulate and substitute election results, arrest and send APM agents away from collation centres to achieve their plans to rig the election”.
When reminded at the meeting that, he once said he will accept the election result if he lost, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade said in this instance, he did not lose but was rigged out.
Akinlade also claimed that Prince Dapo Abiodun was quoted of boasting that ‘Federal Might’ will be deployed to undermine the tribunal judgement regardless of how credible the APM evidence are.
Meanwhile, according to the statement, Hon Akinlade said he will formally write Mr. President (H. E. Muhammad Buhari) and Prof. Yemi Oshibajo (VP) on the need to protect his constitutional rights as a supportive citizen who openly endorsed thier candidatures and mobilized votes for them during the just concluded Presidential election.
He also said he had directed his legal team to write the US, UK, EU and other international organisations to send independent observers to monitor the Ogun guber tribunal case because any attempt by anyone or group to manipulate or buy judgement, no matter how highly placed would be resisted with all means possible.
INEC had declared Prince Dapo Abiodun of All Progressives Congress, APC the winner of March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election in Ogun State with total votes cast of 241,870, to APM 222,153 votes.
