London, Feb. 18, 2019 (AltAfrica)-A 39yr old woman, Iwuagwu Onyinyechi has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for defrauding a church based organisation, (MIA enterprise) to the tune of N100 million under the pretence of assisting the organisation to raise fund for its charity programme.
The arrest of the suspect, AltAfrica learnt followed a petition written by the Lagos based lawyer of the organisation Barrister Godswill Ojakovo to the Commissioner of Police Ogun State in which he complained that his client was defrauded by the suspect through an act of forgery.
The suspect who claimed to have gotten an LPO from a company known as Location 3 properties, appealed to MIA organisation to fund the LPO and consequently, the sum of N33. 2 million was transferred to her.
The Ogun Police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the case said, while the organisation was awaiting the repayment of the above amount the suspect again came with another LPOs she purportedly got from Ancillia Catholic hospital Iju and Holifull school Ikorodu and demanded for another sum of N77 million, which was given to her after showing relevant documents and proves to back her claims.
The petitioner stated further that as soon as she got the last payment in September 2018, the suspect disappeared into thin air and this prompted the church to make discreet enquiries about the LPOs submitted and found out that all the LPOs were forged ones.
Upon receipt of the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iiyasu directed the CP’s Monitoring team to go after the suspect and bring her to justice
The team tracked the suspect and got her arrested on 21st of January 2019 and on interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime.
She admitted that all the LPOs presented by her were forged as most of the companies where she claimed to have gotten the LPOs did not exist
Thereafter, the Commissioner of Police directed that the suspect be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
