Nigeria: Alake of Egbaland, Amaechi, Amosun take first ride as new Lagos Ibadan rail line comes alive
London, Feb. 8, 2019 (AltAfrica)– The Lagos-Abeokuta axis of the new Lagos Ibadan standard gauge line has come alive with its inauguration on Friday by the Minister of transportation, Hon, Rotimi Amaechi.
The epoch making event was withnessed by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo, Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka joined Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun and many other dignitaries who had a feel of the train
The train, Alternativeafrica.com understands travelled at 60km per hour but according to one of the engineers but is capable of moving at 150km per hour when functioning at maximum capacity
“For the purpose of test run, we have to keep the speed at 60km per hour but i can assure you that it is capable of much better speed when the operation begins fully” one f the engineer was quoted as saying.
