London, Jan 29, 2019 (AltAfrica)-The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun said two persons died while 18 others were injured in multiple accidents at Toll-Gate in Sango-Ota.

Adekunle Oguntoyinbo, FRSC Sango-Ota Unit Commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the accident occurred at about 6.31 p.m.

Oguntoyinbo explained that a Iveco truck with registration number GZA 379 XA heading to Lagos from Sango-Ota, lost control and rammed into over a dozen other vehicles, motorcycle and tricycles.

He said that 52 people were involved in the multiple accidents which resulted in two deaths while 18 people sustained various degrees of injuries.

“The corpses of the victims have been deposited at Ifo General Hospital mortuary while those who sustained injuries were receiving treatment at State Hospital, Ota,” he said.

Oguntoyinbo said that the FRSC personnel and other sister agencies such as the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and police, were on ground to remove the obstructions so as to ease the flow of traffic in the area.

He advised motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and ensure that they properly maintain their vehicles to avoid unnecessary deaths.
