Ogun 2019: Akinlade vows to emerge Amosun’s successor, promise rural development
London, Jan. 5, 2019 (AltAfrica)-The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Nigeria, Hon. AbdulKabir Adekunle Akinlade, on Friday, promised massive rural development, as he vowed to succeed the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
Akinlade popularly known as Triple A stated this at Afon, during his two-day ward to ward campaign tour of Imeko-Afon local government council.
According to the leading guber candidate, while speaking with newsmen, shortly after paying homage to the Obaladi of Afon, Oba Alamu Adetona, Akinlade, the tour has further opened his eyes to the needs of the rural dwellers and promised to as a matter of priority, solve challenges of deplorable roads and water scarcity in the area, if elected governor in 2019.
Akinlade promised to provide cassava processing facilities to the people of the community to make garri, cassava flakes processing easy for them.
“No man can give everything. What we are going to do are those essential things, road, water among others. Cassava which is our symbol is one of their biggest plants here.
“We have seen it that they need processing facilities and that will empower and ensure young men and women are gainfully employed.
“Once you have the genuine intention to do it, you have plans and look for resources to achieve it”.
Accessing the tour, Akinlade, who is presently representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency said: “I think what I have seen is the genuine consciousness, a revolution I must say. And that the people of Ogun State have come to the realisation that the injustice that was perpetrated on October 2, 2018 must not stand.
“And that’s what you have seen all over. People are coming out genuinely, ready to actualize and uphold that mandate that was given to us on October 2, 2018. That’s what we are seeing all over. People are happy.
” What you are seeing is just a product of 24 hours notification. We didn’t have two or three weeks to plan. So, I am really happy with what we have seen. That tells you what is going to happen on March 2, 2019. The revolution, which has started in Imeko will spread across the state”.
Earlier, Akinlade and his team visited the international headquarters of Celestial Church of Christ in Imeko, where, the spiritual head of the church, PA Emmanuel Oshoffa prayed for the victory of APM.
At the palace of the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Alabi Olamide, the DG of APM campaign council, Chief Sarafa Tunji Ishola, a former minister, while addressing the Oba, his chiefs, emphasised on the fact that Yewa is long due to produce a governor after over four decades of being sidelined, he added that Hon Akinlade is more posed to make the Yewa agenda a reality and urged the monarch to throw his weight behind Akinlade’s candidature.
The Chairman of the Ogun West Elders Council, Dr Olagbaye and his vice Dr Ogunsiji are here. Dr Ogunsiji gave a brief on how Akinlade emerged the consensus candidate from Ogun West. He stressed that Akinlade was not imposed.
Hon Adekunle Akinlade commended the warm reception he and his team received in the local government and promised to never take their supports for granted.
The Kabiyesi, after his prayers for Akinlade and his deputy, Mrs Adebajo to said, he cannot be an ingrate to Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the governor of the the state, whom God used for him to take over the seat of his forefathers, “I am in support of your ambition and you will triump”, Kabiyesi said.
On the tour with Hon. Akinlade are, his deputy Mrs Adepeju Adebajo, the campaign DG, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola, Chief Jide Ojuko, Chairman of the Ogun West Elders Council, Dr Olagbaye and his vice, Dr Ogunsiji, all candidates of APM in the senatorial among others.
