Nigeria: Donald Duke, Omokri attack Buhari over appointment of new DSS DG
London, September 14, 2018 (AltAfrica)-Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke and Reno Omokri, erstwhile aide to immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, have reacted to the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as substantive Director-General of the Department of State Security, DSS by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reacting, Omokri in a post on his Twitter handle said Magaji’s appointment as new SSS DG shows President Buhari is dead set on his Northernisation of government policy.
He wrote: “I congratulate President Buhari for appointing yet another Northerner, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, to head the Department of State Security.
“Whoever doubted Buhari’s 97% versus 7% statement can now see the President is dead set on his Northernisation of government policy.”
He stated that President Buhari had proven to be irredeemable.
Duke, a presidential aspirant under the Social Democratic Party, SDP, wrote on his Twitter handle: “PMB has just appointed Yusuf Magaji Bichi as substantive DG SSS.
“Against the clamour to broaden the heads of our nations security framework, PMB has proven himself an irredeemable. SAD!!
Alternativeafrica.com has exclusively reported that the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as new DSS DG by President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday is causing some disquiet among some members of the presidency and the hierarchy of the ruling party, APC particularly in the South South and South West
Powerful sources told Alternativeafrica.com that the appointment is seen as ammunition for the main opposition party, the PDP as a potent campaign weapon to paint the president as a bigot only interested in the northern agenda
The sources claimed the concerned people were particularly irked that the announcement came few weeks to media reports of cabal within the presidency working to replace Mr Mathew Seiyefa with another person from the north
This is the same line of argument advanced by Duke and omokri in their attack on the president
