Ogun 2019: Ogun West APC governorship aspirants sign MOU for consensus candidate

London, September 1, 2018 (AltAfrica)-As political parties in Nigeria prepare to select flag bearers for 2019 general elections in September, the people Ogun West Senatorial district of OGUN State, who have been clamouring to govern the rocky state has made a move that is unprecedented in the history of their aspiration to get the governorship ticket under the umbrella of All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.
The signing of the undertaking, which was midwifed by the Chief Ajibola Olagbaye led Ogun West Elders Council took place in Abeokuta on Thursday August 30 and had in attendance the gladiators for the ticket.
Other aspirants at the parley include, Chief Kola Lawal, a serving commissioner in the state, Engr Tope Kuyebi, Chief Abayomi Hunye, Prince Aderibigbe Tella and Mr Mayokun Ilo.
Also in attendance to witnesses to the MOU were representatives of different Ogun West pressure groups in the struggle for Ogun West indigene to become Governor of the state.
According to the document signed by the aspirants, all will abide by the result of the process that will lead to the emergence of the flag bearer of the party from Ogun West and that they will work in ensuring that the candidate and their party APC win at the poll in 2019.
Before the signing of the MOU, which was done without any form of intimidation, all the aspirants were unanimous in voicing out their readiness to support whoever finally emerged among them.
The council of elders, the aspirants and the representatives of Ogun West pressure groups took turn to shower encomiums on the Governor of Ogun State for his unflinching support for Ogun West as far as the 2019 gubernatorial contest is concerned.
The Ogun West pressure groups speaking through their coordinators, Dr. Kunle Salako and Chief Dapo Oke salute the courage, commitment, determination and sacrifices of individual members of the council towards the actualization of the Ogun State governorship dream of Ogun West.
In the same vein, Ogun West Elders Council speaking through their Chairman, Chief Ajibola Olagbaye also had choice words for the aspirants.
