Nigeria sets up presidential council to ease investment
Abeokuta, August 30, 2018 (AltAfrica)– Nigeria government has set up a Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PUBEC) with the mandate to remove critical bottlenecks and bureaucratic constraints to doing business in the country.
Nigeria Honourable Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma who revealed this at the Side Event of the Joint Planning Board / National Council on Development Planning Meeting ongoing in Abeokuta, Ogun State, stated that this step was to attract investment to the country and also to improve her global ranking in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index from 169 to 100 by 2020.
Earlier in the minister speech presented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Olajide Odewale, he revealed that the Executive Order contained far-reaching directives to be implemented by MDAs in order to improve transparency and efficiency in public service delivery to ease the business environment.
In her own speech, the Minister of State for Budget and Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed also represented by the Ministry’s P. S. stated that the quality of life of every individual started from the womb, saying that to ensure realisation of inherent potential of the country’s work force attention must be paid to the protection of the children.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mrs Wonuola Adetayo in her lecture titled, Developing Talent and Institutions for Effective Implementation of Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, opined that prioritisation of vocational and technical education is exigent.
