Nigeria: Three arrested for vandalising MTN mast in Ogun

Abeokuta, August 22, 2018 (AltAfrica)-Men of the Nigeria police, OGUN State command on Saturday 18th August arrested three men for vandalising the mast of the telecommunication giant MTN in atan ota area of Ado Ota local government area of Ogun state.
The three suspects namely kehinde Yahaya, ‘m’ 36, Akeem Adetona ‘m’ 36 and Taofeek Olalere ‘m’ 36, according to the State police PRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, were arrested following a distress call made to the DPO Atan-ota division, SP Abiodun Salau at about 12 midnight by the vigilante men at onigbogbo phase 2 that a group of thieves have burgled into the MTN mast and they were carting away 12 solar power panels valued at about #14million.
Police said on the strength of the distress call, the DPO led his patrol men to the scene where three of the hoodlums were arrested while others escaped into the nearby bush.
Recovered from them are the 12 solar panels as well as their operational Danfo bus with registration number Lagos LND 10 XE.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to FSARS for discreet investigation.
The CP equally directed that serious manhunt should be launched for the fleeing members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice
