Nigeria: EFCC confirms arrest of former DSS boss Ita Ekpeyong
London, August 9, 2018 (AltAfrica)-The Nigeria Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested the former Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Ita Ekpeyong.
Mr. Ekpeyong, our source said is wanted for his alleged role in the arms scam involving a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and other former senior military officers.
Another source said the arrest was in connection with funds said to have been released to the DSS and NIA last year under the previous administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan for the conduct of the 2015 election.
The former DG, who led the Nigeria secret police between 2010 and 2015, was alleged to have turned down multiple invitations by EFCC investigators before now.
AltAfrica.com recollect that in November last year an attempt by EFCC personnel to arrest the former DG and search his home at 46 Mamman Nasir Street, Asokoro, Abuja, was resisted by SSS operatives.
Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the search of Ekpenyong’s home. Uwujaren said, “Our men went there to do the work that they were prevented from doing about ten months ago,” but did not give further details.
