Russia 2018: FIFA nominates Ahmed Musa’s strike as goal of tournament
London, July 17, 2018 (AltAfrica)-FIFA has nominated Ahmed Musa’s second goal in Nigeria’s match against Iceland as one of the 2018 World Cup Goals of the Tournament.
The 25-year-old scored the two goals in the match. The second goal saw him combine pace, composure and brilliance to give Super Eagles three points in their second group stage game of the tournament.
The goals which have already enjoyed over 7.5 million viewership on the You Tube have become the high point of Nigeria’s participation in 2018 world cup in Russia
The goal was nominated with 17 others from Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma, Croatian captain and Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, Spain defender Nacho, Brazil’s Philipe Coutinho, Russia attackers Denis Cheryshev  and Artem Dzyuba for the best goal in the global football showpiece.
Nigeria was knocked out of the group stage after failing to claim an additional point against Argentina, who qualified with a 2 – 1 victory against the former African champions.
The winner will be announced after voting close on July 23 according to a statement from Fifa.
