Ogun 2019: Ogun West elders move for consensus candidate
COMMUNIQUE AT THE END OF THE OGUN WEST POLITICAL DIALOGUE PROMOTED BY THE JOINT OGUN WEST LEADERS FORUM (JOWELF) HELD ON MAY 1ST, 2018 AT YEWA FRONTIER HOTEL, ILARO, THEMED, OGUN WEST FOR GOVERNOR AGENDA: TRANSLATING FROM AGITATION TO REALITY IN 2019.
Whereas Ogun State as an entity is constitutionally divided into 3 senatorial districts of Ogun West, Central and East.
Whereas, in the 42 years history of the state only Ogun West senatorial district has not produced the Governor of Ogun while the other 2 districts have ruled the State at 4 different times each.
Whereas the attempt of Ogun West in the past to produce the Governor of the State has been unsuccessful due to many factors which are both internal and external.
The Joint Ogun West Leaders Forum (JOWELF), an umbrella body of major stakeholders and patriots from Yewa-Awori land decided to convene this political dialogue to address the challenges observed in the past in order to ensure a successful outing at the 2019 elections.
