London, April 20, 2018 (AltAfrika)-Embattled South African ex-president Jacob Zuma is reported to be planning his 7th marriage to 24-year-old Nonkanyiso Conco from KwaZulu-Natal.
The bride-to-be confirmed to local news portal TimesLive on Friday saying: “Yes‚ we are getting married‚ but that is all I can say. I need to consult before I give any interviews.”
Conco will be Zuma’s 4th wife after the marriage as he is currently married to three women: first wife Gertrude Khumalo whom he married in 1973 after he was released from prison; Thobeka Madiba and Gloria Ngema who he married in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
It is been reported that the would be wife gave birth to Zuma’s child in a Durban hospital last week.
News24 is reporting that the child was born at the Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital last Thursday – Zuma’s birthday.
Zuma is a polygamist who has fathered 22 known children from at least 11 women.
The online platform claimed three independent sources confirmed that Zuma visited his baby under strict security on Thursday night. “They had to clear the maternity ward for other patients. Hospital staff made it clear that this was strictly confidential,” a source with direct knowledge of the birth told News24.
Ray Zuma, who is related to the former president, confirmed to News24 that Zuma was going to wed a woman named Nonkanyiso Chonco.
When asked if Chonco was the same woman who had given birth to a baby earlier this month, Ray Zuma responded by saying: “So?”
“I can’t see why you are interested. When he was still the president, you [the media] were terrorising him, and now you are all of a sudden interested in him.”
When asked about the details of the wedding, he said he was not privy to the details.
“No date has been set yet. Both families must come together to decide on the date. We are still in the pre-nuptial phases of the process.”
Zuma’s son Edward told News24, when asked about the baby: “We are not going to respond, or entertain any of that nonsense”.
When News24 visited the hospital earlier in the week, an employee confirmed that Zuma had visited the facility.
“Yes he was here last week. I saw him with his security. I do not know why he came through.”
The polygamous ex-president was married to the former African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, a marriage that ended in divorce. He lost his second wife, Kate Mansho, to suicide in 2000.
Zuma separated from his youngest wife Nompumelelo Ntuli whom he married in 2008. She was removed from his house in Nkandla in 2016 after she was accused of infidelity and planning to poison him.
Jacob Zuma resigned as president in February after pressure from his party the African National Congress (ANC). In April, he appeared in a Durban High Court to answer to 16 charges that include fraud‚ corruption and racketeering.
The charges are related to payments which he allegedly received as a bribe to protect French arms company‚ Thint‚ from an investigation into the controversial arms deal in the 1990s.
Zuma served as president since 2009 and he has faced numerous allegations of corruption which he denies. He has also survived several motions of no confidence
