2019 Election: Ogun West More Hopeful of Governorship Seat
London, April 19, 2018 (AltAfrika)-Sons and daughters of Ogun State senatorial district in the south west of Nigeria have expressed readiness to work with other senatorial districts to break the age-long jinx to capture the seat of government of the state
This was the thrust of a well attended Political Summit Held at Yewa Frontier Hotel, Ilaro on Wednesday 18,April, 2018.
Speaker after speaker expressed hope that 2019 governorship race would be achievable with a better coordinated and unified platform
Having thoroughly deliberated on the theme ” OGUN WEST FOR GOVERNOR 2019,” the summit resolved arrived at the following consensus
That the consistent support and reliable commitment of Governor Ibikunle Amosun CON , FCA is commendable and must be applauded.
-That though the Governor declared his support for a successor from Ogun West, the onus on us however, is to get more serious with the mandate to producing the Governor in 2019.
-That in achieving the agenda, the people of Ogun West must collaborate with leaders and people of Ogun Central and Ogun East Senatorial Districts better than before.
-That within one month, the governorship aspirants must be pruned down to ONE(1) popular, acceptable, marketable and capable candidate.
-That in view of 4 above, platform to Unite other aspirants must be quickly created to galvanise support for the chosen candidate.
-That massive mobilisation and education of Ogun West voters should be immediately embarked upon to change our voting pattern and for the attainment of the agenda.
-That the summit recognised Senatorial arrangement as a means of distribution of political offices/appointments as supported by the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as against the bi-polar arrangement of provinces as being touted in some quarters.
– Consequently, and in the interest of Justice, fairness and equity, Ogun West senatorial district must be supported for the Governorship position in the next dispensation by all political parties as was demonstrated in the nations politics in 1999.
