Nigeria: Enugu Police Command Nabbed Notorious Robber, Cult Leader
The Nigeria Police, Enugu State Command, has arrested a suspected notorious armed robber and cultist who had been terrorising Ibagwa Nike community in Enugu East local government area.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who disclosed the arrest of the wanted gangster in a statement issued on Tuesday in Enugu, the suspect, Sopuruchukwu Anike, 24, was arrested by the operatives of the state Anti-Cultism unit of the command.
Amaraizu said that the suspect and his cohorts usually robbed their victims at gunpoint and dispossessed them of their telephones, money and other valuables.
The police spokesman said that the suspect told his interrogators he bought the gun he was caught with from one of his cohorts, Ikenna, who is currently in prison custody.
He stated further that, the suspect joined the cult in 2016 and thereafter, dropped out from school in Senior Secondary one, SS1.
Amaraizu said a full scale investigation had commenced to get other members of Anike gang.
