Nigerian Parliamentarian Promises Scholarships for Best JAMB Candidates in Lagos Mainland

Lagos, Nigeria. Feb. 20, 2018 (AltAfrika)-A lawmaker in the National Assembly, Hon. AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh has promised to provide scholarship for best performing students in the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, (JAMB) examination.
Jimoh, representing Lagos Mainland Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Abuja, disclosed this on Monday during the official distribution of free JAMB forms to 100 indigent students.The programme tagged: Educational Assistance Scheme (UTME), was held in his constituency office at Borno way, Lagos.
The Parliamentarian, who was represented by his Legislative Aide, Rotimi Akeju stated further that the essence of the educational assistance scheme was to assist young students in his constituency, adding that scholarships would be provided to the best five performing candidates in the examination.

The federal lawmaker gave out 100 students JAMB forms free having registered the forms for them on January 25th, 2018.
While saying that his vision is to empower the youth of his constituency intellectually with a view to making them more productive to Lagos Mainland in particular and Nigeria in general, Jimoh explained that the beneficiaries were chosen based on merit irrespective of their political, ethnic or religious affiliations.
Presenting to the successful applicants, the chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alhaji Shakirudeen Farayola expressed satisfaction with the initiative of the lawmaker, describing him as a true representative of the people.
He therefore appealed to the beneficiaries to study hard in the forthcoming examination so as to encourage him to do more, he said
“Those of you who have attained voting age should register in the on-going voters registration exercise and vote for good representation we are enjoying in Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency come 2019 general election,” he concluded.
