London, Jan. 31, 2018 (AltAfrika)-Two former military service members are heading to prison for attempting to have sex with a minor.
Senior U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has sentenced Mark Antonio Pazmino, a 30–year-old former U.S. Army member assigned to Joint Base San Antonio—National Security Agency (JBSA-NSA), to 121 months in federal prison followed by 20 years of supervised release for attempting to have sex with a minor.
It revealed that on May 16, 2017, Pazmino pleaded guilty to one count of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
In a separate, but related matter, on January 24, 2018, Chief United States District Judge Orlando L. Garcia sentenced 28-year-old Mark Richard Hardin, an enlisted Navy member assigned to Joint Base San Antonio—Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-FSH), to 120 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release.
AFOSI, Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and FBI special agents conducted this investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Wannarka prosecuted both defendants on behalf of the Government.
These cases were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
