AGF accuses Media of saboutaging war against corruption
London, Dec. 8, 2017 (AltAfrika)-Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Thursday, at the Chatham House in London accused a section of the Nigerian Media of deliberately frustrating the anti-graft war in exchange for pecuniary gain
Malami who was addressing a packed audience including members of the international media on the anti-corruption drive of the government said it was shameful that in spite of the noble efforts of the government to eliminate corruption and bring corrupt individuals to justice, some media practitioners have allowed themselves to be used to thwart the efforts of the government.
“It is also necessary to point out that the most catastrophic setback for the war against corruption has been forces of intellectual prostitution by certain media practitioners arising from their on-going association with some element in the society. Of course, it is well known that the duty of a Journalist who found himself in such compromising relationship is to discredit the truth, to lie outright to the extent of selling his country and conscience for his daily bread” he said
He also challenged the international media to pressure their respective governments to support the return of stolen assets
to the countries from which they were stolen.
