Another Dangote Truck Intercepted for Smuggling activities in Ogun State

Abeokuta, Nigeria. Dec. 5, 2017 (AltAfrika)-The Nigeria Customs Service in Ogun State, western Nigeria has intercepted a truck belonging to Dangote Group with 600 bags (50kg) of what it called smuggled rice.
The truck marked, KMC-252-XC and with serial number ICT-7A-001 was intercepted along Sagamu Interchange according to Ogun State Comptroller of Customs, Sani Madugu who briefed journalists about the activies of his men at the state command in Abeokuta
The Customs boss puts the total duty paid value of the seized truck and other seized items at N26,940,000
Madugu who revealed there is a good synergy between the Customs Service and the Dangote Group, saying such synergy is yielding positive results, such as seizure of any of the Group’s truck involved in smuggling activities without any bad feelings
“They monitor as we monitor, they inform us when a truck has not returned, so that we can act”, he said.
He listed other seized items within the week as, a blue Mazda 626 intercepted with 30 bags of rice, a white Mazda 626 car carrying 40 bags of rice, a silver colour Mazda car carrying 29 bags of rice, a dark blue Mazda car carrying 48 bags of rice, Lexus RX Jeep, Hyundai Veracruz Jeep, Hiace bus carrying 800 pairs of foreign foot wear and 100 pieces of foreign school bags, a Ford bus carrying 100 packages of mosquito repellant and 50 kegs of foreign vegetable oil, as well as a Sharon bus carrying 19 bundles of used tyres 1 by 4.
The Comptroller revealed further that a total of 277 vehicles have been released to the highest bidders through the e-auction programme of his command, with 233 of the vehicles auctioned from the Idiroko axis and 44 from Abeokuta axis.
