London, Oct. 15, 2017 (AltAfrika)-Who is a prophet? A prophet is simply identified as a person who is in the habit of speaking God’s truth to others. The English word “prophet ” originated from the Greek word “prophete” which can mean “one who speaks forth or advocate”
Another outstanding characteristic of a Prophet is the ability to foretell the future. If this is true of a Prophet then late Fela Anikulapo Kuti the only “Abami eda” of the universe was a Prophet. He spoke and declared the truth on contemporary issues while also revealed details about the future of Nigeria.
For example in 1978, Prophet Fela in one of his classics “suffering and smiling ” described the horror of poverty and the docile nature of Nigerian declaring “every day na the same thing”
Thirty-nine years after that song which incidentally marks his twenty years of ascendancy to the great beyond hsa anything changed about that epic description? No. At least for now and no sign of that changes for the future
Prophet Fela preached boldly against the corruption of his days and delivered great visions of the future of Nigeria and Africa. May the soul of Prophet Fela continue to rest in peace
